BARE SPACE is a private white-box studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn. 200 square feet. 13-foot ceilings. East-facing windows.

In the morning, direct sunlight enters clean from the eastern horizon, casting defined shadows. After noon, the light softens and glows steadily until dusk. Best suited for ISO 800 and above.

Ideal for portraits, figure work, still life, and film.

Nudity permitted.

The studio is quiet and fully equipped. Fabric backdrops, C-stands, light stands, V-flat, reflectors, posing stool, Hollywood mirror, clothing rack, fan, Sonos, and WiFi are included. A Godox monolight, 47" parabolic softbox, and PocketWizard transceivers are available to rent.

  • You can check availability and book directly through the online form. Full payment is due at checkout to confirm your reservation.

  • You’ll receive building access instructions and a one-time code for the studio door after your booking is confirmed. If you’ve rented equipment, you’ll also receive a separate code to unlock a key to access the equipment.

  • The space receives direct eastern sunlight from sunrise until noon, followed by soft, consistent glowing light throughout the afternoon.

  • The space allows a maximum of 10 people per booking.

  • No. Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited. A $250 fee applies if smoking or drinking occurs in the studio.

  • Street parking in DUMBO is limited. We recommend public transportation; the A, C, and F trains are a short walk from the space.

  • The space is mostly quiet. You may hear ambient noise from bridge traffic and the subway overhead.

  • The building provides restrooms, elevator access, drinking fountains, and vending machines for snacks & drinks.

  • We recommend Devoción, just a short walk from the studio — excellent coffee in a beautiful space.

Policies

  • Booking is done through the online form. Full payment is due at checkout to confirm your reservation. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance will be refunded. Cancellations made 24–48 hours in advance may be rescheduled but are not refundable. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are non-refundable and must be paid in full. Extra time beyond your scheduled booking will be charged at $20 per 15 minutes. No exceptions.

  • Renters will be given access to the building and a one-time use code to enter the studio. If you wish to rent equipment, a per-booking fee applies and a separate access code will be provided to unlock it. It is the renters responsibility to arrive and depart on time of the booking.

  • The studio allows a maximum of 10 people per booking. Nudity is permitted. Smoking is strictly forbidden — a $250 fee will be charged if smoking occurs in the studio. Renters must keep noise levels reasonable out of respect for neighbors. Outside equipment is allowed. Anything in the studio that is not locked is available for use.

  • Renters are expected to leave the space as they found it. Please dispose of all trash, return any moved items, and ensure lights and equipment are off and properly stored before leaving. Additional cleaning or reset fees may apply if the space is left in poor condition.

  • Renters are fully responsible for any damage to the studio or its contents during their booking. This includes damage caused by guests or outside crew. BARE SPACE is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property brought into the space.

  • A small motion-activated security camera is installed above the door for safety. Footage is only reviewed in the case of disputes. Any attempt to move, block, or damage the camera is not tolerated and will result in a fee.
